This stage of life often can build up mental health and physical issues that manifest themselves in adulthood and working life. Having a balanced childhood is critical for future mental health and physical health wellbeing.
Under the Government Ageing Better scheme they talk about not just living well in old age with sustained physical activity but starting at a young age.
The post millennium children have become the least active of the last 5 generations, with computer games being blamed followed by TV. Obesity in children is alarmingly on the rise and this is not good for the next stage of life. We need to get our children active.
Another area that the Government is promoting under the scheme is healthy eating. Children are not eating enough fruit and vegetables and far too addicted to processed and fast food.
An unfit or unhealthy child entering into the adulthood world is already on an uphill battle. Therefore, it’s down to parents to take the lead and make sure they are ready and match fit for the next stage of their lives
